Our Coaches

Surf Easy Surf School is owned and run by Garry Palmer, Surf Easy's Head Coach .He is a Qualified Education Department Teacher and TAFE Outdoor Recreation Teacher,and a Level 4 Master Surf Coach, and Level 4 master Surf Trainer.

Garry has been teaching people to surf professionally since the 1980’s when he wrote a Surf Instruction Manual for the Education department, and has been surfing for over 30 years.

He is also a State Open ,Masters & Legends Champion and still competes regularly.Garry is a true waterman. If it involves water ( even in the frozen state!) he has mastered the sport, having sailed , windsurfed, canoed , kayaked, snorkled, scuba dived,fished and skied over the years.

Garry has run Surf Survival Certificate courses for many Primary & High Schools over the years, and provides surf lessons to more than a dozen school and community groups.. Garry has loads of experience in the surf industry.

He is a ASI Master Surfing Coach (Level 4),an ASI Trainer Level4 in Surfing, a qualified Education Department teacher, an Australian Coaching Council Level 1 coach and is a qualified kayak and canoe instructor. The Australian coaching council has awarded Garry with the Coach Recognition Award for outstanding coaching.

Garry is also recognised as one of Australias leading recreational surfing educators. He writes surfing lesson curriculum for TAFES, colleges and schools, organises and structures curriculum for surf camps and prepares and instructs primary and high school groups in surf awareness and surfing.

As an ASI level 4 Master Coach he now runs Surf Coach training courses, which are Nationally & Internationally Accredited. The first of these ran in August 2006 ,with Cheyne Horan & Garry Palmer as instructors, and all participants were very happy with the content & atmosphere of the training program.

Jenny has been surfing for 40+ years and Surf Coaching since 1980. She was the first female surfer at Avalon in Sydney and went on the professional tour in 1989. Her best result was a 17th on the world tour and a 2nd in the Aussie Titles. She has surfed around the world and still competes in Long and Short board comps. She is also a qualified Judge and has been judging the Gromfest for 10 years. As a parent of a teenage daughter, she relates well to kids. Her skills at instruction and ability to improve your surfing gets a lot of positive feedback .

Adam has 20+ years surfing experience and has been coaching for the last 2 years. He is a local who loves surfing Currumbin Alley but also loves surfing Sumatra and the Mentawais.He also works disadvataged kids and is also now a new Dad!
